Technique of Kyphoplasty
2021
Balloon kyphoplasty (BKP) differs from vertebroplasty since an inflatable bone tamps or balloon, is inserted into the vertebral body, before the injection of the filling material, with the aim to elevate the end plates, to restore at least partially, the original vertebral height and to create a cavity inside the vertebral body. In this chapter, a step-by-step analysis of the surgical technique is proposed to help the practitioner to understand all the phases of the procedure with their tricks and to avoid possible complications.
