Optimal design of a high density back-end converter for 400V DC distribution system

2010
A DC/DC converter has been optimally designed to introduce it into a 400V DC distribution system. It has been optimal designed by using a developed tool to maximize the output power density (OPD) of the converter, considering boundary conditions that the 400V DC distribution system requires. The developed tool enables power loss of magnetic materials and high-speed semiconductor power devices to be exactly estimated under the real circuit operation condition. Feasibility of the design tool is demonstrated by fabricating a prototype of the DC/DC converter.
