Experimental research of 45GHz quasi-optical transmission line for deep drilling

The 45GHz quasi-optical transmission line for deep drilling has been designed, machined and experimental tested in this paper. Based on the Stratton-Chu formula and mirror optimization program, the structure of the three quasi-optical mirrors which transmit the wave beam from the Gyrotron to rock surface has been obtained. The output power of the Gyrotron is adjustable from 0kW to 20kW. The experiment results show that the output power density meets the preliminary requirements to melt the rock. The maximum temperature of the sample stone reached to 2032.6°C.
