AS CAMADAS GONDVÂNICAS NO NORDESTE DO PARANÁ

2019
The article deals with some stratigraphic and structural features of the gondwanic beds of the Parana Basin, Southern Brazil. The area focalized stands between Carlopolis, Quatigua and Santo Antonio da Platina, Northeast of Parana State. The Permian Passa Dois Group according to the Authors is composed of Irati Formation, in the base, and Estrada Nova Formation in the top. The thickness of the Irati Formation is around 10 meters. The Estrada Nova Formation includes 3 different lithossomes: Serra Alta, Terezina and Serrinha. There are interfinging of such Iithossomes, as already pointed out in some other areas. Serrinha ocurs between the Serra Alta and Terezina and again in the middle section of Terezina, returning on top of it. Normally in the sections the Serrinha overlies the Terezina. In the area under discussion the Eocretaceous Botucatu Formation covers directly the Serrinha facies, with no presence of the Morro Pelado facies, another member of the Passa Dois Group. The fossiliferous beds considered previously as Morro Pelado belong actually to Serrinha and so the Palaeomutela ? platinensis zone. Bloke faulting is common. Geological profiles are presented and also an hypothetical sketch of the interrelated Permian units.
