Desafios da Produção Orgânica em Capitão Poço/PA

2018
The present work aims to present a case study that includes an alternative approach to the conventional method of citrus production, the difficulties of organic production in the region and the new proposal of production model in the municipality of Captain Poco/PA. The study was carried out in the community of Santa Luzia, in the municipality of Capitao Poco. This research fits as a qualitative approach. According to the farmer, in the region there is an excess supply of citrus, especially lemon, saturating the local market and thus causing losses of approximately 50% of production. Organic agriculture, even presenting several advantages, also presents disadvantages that hinders the adoption of this model by the farmer. The owner of the studied area reported his difficulty in joining the organic production system due to difficulties in obtaining adequate inputs to this production model, since the predominant production system in the region is the conventional system, where many producers use agrochemicals unbridled and even irregular, especially in regard to the respect of the grace period of the products and even the indicated dosages for use. The first producer in the region to join the integrated production system was the one that is the subject of this study. It has joined the system in 2016. Since then, the use of agrochemicals has been reduced in its cultivation. The final product generated in this system is known as the "clean product".
