The wetting of refractory products by copper and cuprous oxides

Oxide refractories are not readily wetted by copper over the temperature range 1100–1600°C. The wetting angle decreases with an increase in the temperature as a result of the weakening of the inter-particle bonds in the melt and the increase in the adhesion of the phases.
