Linear-cavity-based single frequency fiber laser with a loop mirror and Ti2CTx quantum dots

Abstract Two-dimensional (2D) material Mxene has many unique properties, some of which are maintained or improved when these materials transform to zero-dimensional (0D) and become quantum dots (QDs). Taking a new Mxene material -- Ti2CTx QDs as a saturable absorber (SA), we report a stable linear-cavity-based single frequency (SF) fiber laser with a loop mirror (LM) structure. Compared with represented SF fiber lasers in a similar cavity structure, it has the narrowest linewidth of 1.05 kHz and a signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of 48.99 dB at the center wavelength of 1549.22 nm. Its output power reaches the highest at 31.69 mW after being amplified by an Er-doped fiber amplifier (EDFA). The power fluctuation before and after amplification are 0.52% and 1.29%, respectively.
