The potential of STREAM-based science textbook to enrich students’ creativity in environmental pollution and global warming topics

2021
The 21st century skills require students to go beyond the expertise of fundamental knowledge, particularly the creativity. The lack of students’ creativity can be induced by complex factors during the teaching and learning processes, for instance the absence of informative and multimedia-based textbooks. Researchers agree that good textbooks can improve students’ willingness to study and develop their encouragement. In this present study, we developed students’ and teachers’ books in which based on Science, Technology, Reading, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STREAM). The books were mainly about environmental pollution and global warming topics. The topics are appropriate to develop the science textbooks since it studies includes problems in students’ daily life in such a way that they are easy to create projects. The books were designed to guide students to learn the concepts, understand the problems, draw the solutions, and express their creative ideas. In addition, the Arts in STREAM facilitates students to produce creative work. Our study concludes that the STREAM-based textbook is reliable and valid to use in teaching and learning science.
