Embedded Si Nano Wire Anode for Lithium-Ion Secondary Cells

Introduction Silicon is considered as a possible alternative for the graphite anode in the Li ion battery (LIB) because the Si has the highest theoretical capacity among the materials. However, the large capacity fade observed during initial cycling has prevented the Si anode from being commercialized. Here we present one of solution for reducing the capacity fade observed in Si-based anode by embedded Si nano wire In this work, we will focus on the metallurgical characteristics and electrochemical performance of embedded Si nano wire as high capacity anode.
