Photodegradation of Dichlorophen in Montmorillonite Suspension

2009
Using a 250w and 365nm metal halide lamp as light source, photocatalytic dichlorophen (DCP) in montmorillonite KSF suspension and its influencing factors were studied. Results showed that DCP can be effectively removed in aqueous solution. Under the conditions of pH 3.2, KSF 4g/L, DCP aqueous solution with initial concentration 5mg/L can reach degradation efficiency at 82.7% when irradiated for 100min. In the range of pH value from 3.0 to 9.0, removal efficiency of DCP was the highest at pH 3. Degradation rate of DCP increased with the increasing concentration of clays in aqueous suspensions in the range of 0~4g/L. The removal efficiency of DCP can be enhanced in the presence of carboxylic salts.
