Mathematical methods for morphological description of particles of the solid component of welding aerosols

Abstract The article discusses methods for the mathematical description of morphometric parameters of solid particles of a welding aerosol based on data about their flat images obtained by scanning electron microscopy using the image analysis method. The proposed methods for describing morphometric characteristics make it possible to estimate the volumetric parameters of particles, which allows to determine their dispersion factor. The dispersion factor is the value of the inverse stability of a substance, that is, it characterizes their chemical and physical activity, which is important when developing a technology for capturing these particles, developing personal protective equipment against their effects and for assessing the health risks of workers whose work is associated with direct contact with these particles in the air of the working area.
