Solid state synthesis, luminescence and afterglow enhancements of CaTiO3:Pr3+ by Ga3+ codoping

Abstract CaTiO 3 :Pr 3+ and CaTiO 3 :Pr 3+ /Ga 3+ samples were synthesized by a hydrothermal method using the alcohol as the surfactant. The XRD and FTIR results demonstrated the single phase of the CaTiO 3 :Pr 3+ and CaTiO 3 :Pr 3+ /Ga 3+ samples. The TEM images indicated that the CaTiO 3 :Pr 3+ and CaTiO 3 :Pr 3+ /Ga 3+ samples have the cubic morphologies. The intensity of red emission due to the 1 D 2 → 3 H 4 transition of Pr 3+ exhibited that it can be enhanced by Ga 3+ codoping. An interpretation was made in terms of the luminescent properties of CaTiO 3 :Pr 3+ and CaTiO 3 :Pr 3+ /Ga 3+ samples.
