Contexto histórico del cuidado profesional de Enfermería en México

Introduction: In a historical process, Mexican nursing has built a body of knowledge through an act of permanent dialogue; that is, to be, to know and to do in nursing have become entangled to provide professional nursing care. Aim: to reflect on and discuss the development of professional care until its transformation into the single act or body of knowledge of the Mexican nursing profession. Methodology: an analytical-synthetic approach, based on hermeneutics, was used. Texts addressing the act of caring from a variety of approaches were reviewed: humanism, medicine, sociology and nursing. Results: The knowledge and acceptance of care as the epistemic objective of the Mexican nursing profession is a recent event; a slow exercise, difficult to comprehend, to transmit and, overall, difficult to apply in every working area. Conclusion: A collegiate, permanent move to position the delivery of professional, caring and civilised exists.
