A clinical investigation on the methods of removing germicide in reusing dialyzers

2006
Objective To investigate the reasonable way of germicide removal in the reusing dialyzers. Methods Patients enrolled were divided into different groups randomly. Different methods were used to rinse the reusing dialyzers to remove germicide. Renalin residual test strips were used to examine the renalin residual density. Results were rewrded and clinical symptoms were observed. Results After rinsing the reusing dialyzers with Normal saline (NS) 1000ml for 10 minutes in singlepass fashion. The renalin residual density was lower than 3mg/ L.Though the renalin residual of polysulfone high-flux dialyzer was lower than 2mg/L, 37.5% patients got fever. So 1000ml NS and 15 minutes were needed to rinse polysulfone high-flux dialyzer. Conclusion The way of rinsing NS 1000ml and circulating in a single-pass fashion for 10 minutes is effective in polysulfone dialyzer (F6). The way of rinsing NS 1 000ml and circulating in a single-pass fashion for 15 minutes is effective in polysulfone high-flux dialyzer (F60S). The renalin residual density must be ≤1mg/L.
