Study of Symbol Timing Synchronization in OFDM System

In OFDM system, the purpose of symbol synchronization is to determine the sign of the beginning and end of each OFDM symbol in receiver, that is, to determine the precise location of the fast Fourier transform(FFT) window, thereby achieving frame synchronization. The paper proposes two modified algorithms based on the deep study of Schmidl Cox and H.Minns’ symbol timing synchronization method, and its performance is verified. The simulation results show that the two improved methods in OFDM system have good timing performance.
