PURPOSE: To provide the subject new compound exhibiting a bone resorption inhibitory effect, an anti-inflammatory effect, an antirheumatic effect, etc., and useful as a medicine. CONSTITUTION: A derivative of formula I [A is a (substituted) 6C cyclic hydrocarbon; m is 0 to 2; n is 1 to 3; R 1 and R 2 are each H or a lower alkyl] and its pharmaceutically permissible salt, e.g. (2-indanyl)aminomethylenebisphosphonic acid tetraethyl ester. The compound of formula I can be obtained, e.g. by mixing and reacting a compound of formula II with a compound of formula III and a compound of formula IV at 100 to 200°C (preferably about 150°C) for 10min to several hr and purifying the reaction product.
