Adjustable solid bumper for a robot

A robot bumper assembly (108) includes a bumper body (107), a first sensor array (120a) and a second array (120b). The first sensor array is arranged along the bumper body of a front portion (110) and adapted in its shape to the outer periphery thereof and detects contact with an outside environment at positions along the outline of the outer edge of the front portion of the bumper body. The second sensor array is arranged along an upper portion (109) of the front portion of the robot body and adapted in its shape to the outer periphery thereof. The upper section is angled upward like a ramp. The second sensor array detects contact with an outside environment at positions along the outer edge of the angled upper portion of the bumper body.
