APPROACHES TO THE ECONOMIC EVALUATION OF IVHS TECHNOLOGY

1992
The authors explain that the direct benefits, identified in the economic analyses of traditional transportation improvements are only part of the benefits that will most likely accrue from Intelligent Vehicle Highway Systems (IVHS) investments. In addition, there are economic benefits and social benefits. The authors explain the complexities in identifying and quantifying these non-direct benefits and outline a research program that would investigate these complex benefits issues.
