Theoretical determination of the root mean square thermal vibration amplitudes of bulk and (110) surface atoms of InAs

Abstract We apply an analytical method, within the frame of an atomic interaction model, to calculate the bulk and (110) surface rms thermal vibration amplitudes, − 〈u 2 〉 1 2 - in InAs. The calculated surface enhancement factor S is compared with experiment and the role of long-range Coulomb interactions is discussed.
