Barcoding Molekuler Burung Nuri Talaud Berdasarkan Gen COI (Cytochrome Oxidase Subunit I)

2020
Indonesia is known as a high biodiversity country having 60% diversity of fauna in the world, including birds. Some types of birds are endemic can only be found in Indonesia, for example parrots and relatives. Talaud Parrot (Eos Histrio) is grouped into a family of twisted beak birds (Pstticidae). The study aims to obtain the position of the Talaud parrot species based on the I (COI) Cytochrome Genes and use a descriptive method with laboratory experiments. Total DNA is obtained by the exraction and purifying of the parrot muscle tissue. COI genes are amplified using PCR method and divisualize with automatic electrophoresis. Sequencing is performed at FIRST BASE Singapore. The result of analysis of the COI-Talaud parrot gene sequence using the BLAST (Basic Local Aligment Search Tool) method showed the Talaud parrot resemblance to the Southern Brown Kiwi.
