Centrifugal membrane and density separation: A new spin on membrane fouling

1997
Abstract In this article, a team of researchers from the University of Victoria, BC, describe a novel approach to membrane separation which utilises a spinning centrifuge to reduce membrane fouling. The research group report that this method can result in higher flux due to decreases in particulate fouling and concentration polarisation. Work is already underway to identify possible applications for this new and promising technique, with applications of CMDS for the treatment of industrial waste and process waters under close scrutiny.
