The survival rate of Bursaphelenchus xylophilus on different moisture of woody packaging material.

2010
Survival rate of Bursaphelenchus xylophilus were studied in different moistures of woody packaging material. The results were as follows:As processing time, the survival rate of nematode was declining for wood with different moisture at 25 ℃ and 4 ℃;wood with 12.0 % —22.8 % moisture,in which survival rate of nematode was significantly lower than without dried wood with 34.4 % —48.0 % moisture. After 6 hours treatment, wood with 12.3 % moisture, which was not detected live nematode at 25 ℃(that was to say that nematode had been dead in the treated wood),but 5 % of the nematodes was still detected at 4 ℃.After 24 hours treatment wood with less than 22.8 % moisture could not detected live nematode, while wood with 47.3 % moisture could be found to some of nematode. The experiment confirmed dried wood with less than 22.8 % moisture,in which the nematode was not easy to survive and infect.
