Toward a common poetry? The amateur poets of Twitter, Instagram, and Wattpad

Poets active on Twitter, Instagram, or Wattpad offer a new form of poetry. Far from avant-garde practices, these amateurs take up proven poetic forms (verse, rhyme, haiku) and adapt them to the writing spaces provided by the websites. We are thus witnessing a blossoming of micropoetry on Twitter, a graphic and nostalgic reformatting of the poem on Instagram, and a collective construction of lyricism on Wattpad. By enriching texts with multimedia content, amateurs also contribute to detaching poetry from textuality. In return, digital media help to redefine the poetic subject, between affirmation and self-effacement.
