Effects of different substrates on container-seedlings of six native species

2013
By using 3 different cultivation medium, the container-seedlings of Aporusa dioica,Kigelia africana,Tutcheria championi,Camellia chekiangoleosa,Laurocerasus zippeliana,Ilex rotunda were carried out in order to research on the seedling’s sprout and growth. The results show that the substrate S2(50% pond mud +30% coir dust +20% sedge peat) was be propitious to the sprout and growth of A.dioica,K.africana and I.rotunda, can be used in the production of container matrix seedling;the substrate S3(30% pond mud +40% coir dust +30% spent mushroom compost) had steady physical and chemical characteristics and had higher organic matter contents of N,P and K,So it was an ideal substrate for the sprout and growth of L.zippeliana.With the substrate S2and S3,the containerseedlings of T.championi and C.chekiangoleosa were not easy to survive,so the ideal substrate requires to be study further.
