Pole ratio effect on performances of linear permanent magnet vernier motor

2015
Linear permanent magnet vernier (LPMV) motor incorporates the merits of high efficiency and low cost since its magnets and windings are located in the short primary, which is very suitable for long stroke applications. The novelty of this paper is to investigate effects of the pole ratio on performances of the LPMV motor by using finite-element method (FEM). The FEM-based results reveal that the pole ratio has significant influence on performances of the LPMV motor. An optimized pole ratio is obtained by parametric analysis. Finally, a LPMV motor is prototyped for verification.
