The Theoretical Analysis and Experimental Research of Clamping Force of the Magnetic Powder Clamping Systems

Aim at the clamping difficulties in machining process of monolithic components,an approach of clamping force delivered by magnetic powder particles was submitted.The theory of clamping system of magnetic powder was introduced;system-affect factors were analyzed,in which friction coefficient of magnetic powder particles, magnetic induction intension and magnetic-powder-filled-in area were confirmed as main ones.The friction coefficient of different mesh numbers of magnetic powder particles is determined by experiments,and the connection among clamping force,current and filling height of magnetic powder on an experiment platform is figured out.Mesh numbers of magnetic powder particle were confirmed from experimental data,which lead to definding the functional relation-ship among vertical/horizontal clamping force,current and filling height of magnetic powder.
