Round-Robin Test Program and Execution

The round-robin test (RRT) experimental program is described in this chapter. Two different fibre-reinforced concrete (FRC) compositions were produced with macro-synthetic fibres (SyFRC) and steel fibres (SFRC). The same concrete matrix was used in both cases to avoid additional variables. The FRC matrix composition requirements were agreed by the rest of the TC members and fibres suppliers. The mechanical properties of fibres as well as the visual aspects are described. The production of specimens for each mix was performed on 2 or 3 batches of 1.5 m3 produced in consecutive days with 1 batch per day to avoid as much as possible any variation due to production. A total of 451 FRC specimens were cast, demould, numbered and arranged in pallets to be shipped to the respective laboratories. The distribution of specimens among the participants is presented.
