Modelling and Performance Analysis of an Efficient Compact Integrated Rectifier-Receiver for SWIPT

Conventional splitting methods in simultaneous wireless information and power transfer (SWIPT) include the domains of time, power, antenna, and frequency; each of these often suffers from information loss or energy waste. To address these issues, a compact integrated rectifier-receiver (IRR) system based on a hybrid coupler is proposed to achieve the separation of non-information-carrying frequency components from the information-carrying components of the modulated signals. The non-information-carrying components are used for rectification and the information-carrying components are extracted for data recovery. A two-stage voltage doubler circuit used in a bridge configuration is selected for high RF-to-DC conversion efficiency. Experimental outcomes verify the theoretical modeling and validate the proposed scheme, with stable communication ability and high power conversion efficiency (PCE) for rectification. Thus, this IRR system is suitable for SWIPT with the proposed novel splitting technique.
