Luminescence of polystyrene composites loaded with CeF3 nanoparticles

Abstract Luminescence and kinetic characteristics of polystyrene nanocomposites with luminescence impurities of p-Terphenyl, POPOP and CeF 3 nanoparticles were studied. Intensity of X-ray excited luminescence of the polystyrene scintillation composites containing CeF 3 nanoparticles (40 wt%) has been established to substantially increase (up to 16 times), mainly due to excitation energy transfer from the CeF 3 nanoparticles to the polystyrene matrix by means of the electron escape mechanism.
