Effects of Temperature Variation on Dielectric Properties of EPDM/SiC Composites for HTS Power Leading Insulation

Dielectric loss is an important factor in designing HTS power leading insulation. In this paper, the SiC/Ethylene propylene diene monomer (EPDM) composites were prepared through melt-blending and electrically heated pressing. Morphologies and dielectric properties during a range of temperature and frequency of the SiC/EPDM composite were investigated. Results show that SiC particles can form a pathway in the EPDM bulk, which can obtain a potential effects of electrical field hominization without elevating the dielectric loss in a large temperature range.
