Environmental engineering education in Malaysia

In recent years, various institutions of higher learning in Malaysia have incorporated environmental engineering in the education and training of engineers. However, environmental engineering at the undergraduate level is not usually presented as a separate discipline. Most of the subject matter in environmental engineering is offered by civil and chemical engineering departments. At the postgraduate level, various universities offer masters and doctoral programmes in environmental science and engineering. In addition, external courses for postgraduate study in environmental management are being introduced for suitably qualified professionals. These programmes, conducted in collaboration with foreign universities, are aimed at the needs of managers, government officers, engineers, scientists and other professionals who are involved in the planning and implementation of environmental projects and policies.
