A macrocyclic 19F-MR based probe for Mn2 + sensing

Abstract We report a novel fluorinated aza-macrocycle that affords a linear increase in longitudinal and transverse 19 F NMR relaxation rates between 100 μM to 1 mM Mn 2 + concentrations. The linear response which is unaffected in the presence of other biologically relevant metal ions and 19 F-MR phantom images of macrocycle solutions in presence of Mn 2 + indicate the potential applicability of the probe as a 19 F-MR based Mn 2 + sensor.
