Una causa poco frecuente de empiema en un varón inmunocompetente

A Rare Cause of Empyema in an Immunocompetent Male Coccidioidomycosis is a systemic mycosis endemic in America, caused by Coccidioides immitis and Coccidioides posadasii. Most of the infections are mild and self-limited; only a few of them develop a serious lung disease and a much smaller proportion cause a systemic disease. A few cases of infections complicating the pleural space infections have been reported in the literature. We present a case of an immunocompetent patient, with a pulmonary Coccidiodiomycosis with extensive cavitary dissease associated to empyema.
