With about a year to go until the Games of the XXIX Olympiad in Beijing,the construction of Olympic venues at more than 30 sites—inside and outside of Beijing—is humming along.And China's women athletes are stepping up their game.Since the early 1990s,a growing number of Chinese women have competed in the Olympics.But competing in such an international event in your own country is a rare opportunity.It seldom—if ever—happens more than once a century.But what is in store for the athletes after August 24,2008,after the closing ceremonies are over and the cleaners begin sweeping the stands.Women of China recently spoke with an Olympic hopeful,in addition to several officials,on the nation's women who are likely to strike gold.Women of China also talked with some of China's former women Olympians,including some who won medals,about life after the Games.
