Large Area 1.75D Array for Liver Cancer by Tiling of Multi-Generation ASIC Array Modules
2020
In a significant proportion of patients screened for Hepatocellular Carcinoma (HCC) using ultrasound the quality of images obtained is below the requirements for diagnostic classification. Detection of small, low contrast lesions is impaired in patients with abdominal wall thickness greater than 2.5 cm due to low image contrast. To address this need we have been developing large 1.75D array apertures composed of multiple tiled subarrays modules. The modules include custom buffering and switching ASICs for multiplexing the large number of elements in the 1.75D arrays to a Verasonics configurable imaging system. Here we report on recent results of imaging using these tiled modular array apertures.
