TEDI: Interactive Didactic Electronic Board for educational inclusion

2017
In this paper, the design and development of an educational tool allowing the inclusion of students with disabilities during the teaching process is carried out. The device, called TEDI: Interactive Didactic Electronic Board, consists of a wooden structure, on which it can be placed six pictograms, and a hardware unit that performs three main functions: 1) allowing the teacher to select the correct answers according to the activity to be performed, 2) to detect thru a magnetic selection system a pictogram chosen by the student, and 3) to generate an audiovisual feedback that indicates to the student if his answer was correct or incorrect. The evaluations results reflect that the device is able to stimulate children during the learning process, allowing to participate in different activities without a great physical effort. In addition, it presents other fundamental characteristics for teaching: ease of use by teachers and students, robustness, portability, and adaptability to abilities of the students.
