Paleoradiology of the prehistoric Australian aborigines

1994
The Australian aborigines first arrived on the continent of Australia from Southeast Asia not less than 40,000 years B.P. (before the present) during periods of glaciation, when the world temperature dropped, ice caps and glaciers formed and trapped huge amounts of seawater, sea levels fell, and land masses were closer together [1]. Some believe that they could have arrived as far back as 100,000 years B.P., although no human remains have been discovered that date back that far. The aborigines most likely arrived by boat during those periods of glaciation. The last two major lowerings of the sea level produced by significant glaciations were around 53,000 and 20,000 years B.P. Australia and its nearest land masses were at one time separated by about 70 km
