Town of Superior Parks, Recreation, Open Space and Trails Advisory Committee (PROSTAC) Meeting Notes

2013
2. Discussion – Recreational Program Assessment. PROSTAC point-person for this project Sandie Hammerly reviewed this week’s preliminary meeting with staff and the consultant to refine questions for soliciting feedback from the community and partner groups on Town programming strengths, potential gaps and possible changes. The questions should be revised this week to post in Surveymonkey, and the Committee members will receive a link to test the questions and provide feedback next week on any suggested clarifications. Patrick is working with the consultant to schedule meetings with programming partners and other stakeholders. 3. Recommendation – Town 9 Park Naming. The Committee discussed the names submitted for the park via a community-wide contest. The grand opening of the park facility is scheduled for April 20 at 10:00 a.m. and will be held in conjunction with the Town’s Arbor Day event at the park. The Committee narrowed down the list and voted to recommend three options to the Town Board: a. Tie for first between Founders Park and Legacy Park, then Colliery View Park, and then Hake (or another historical name working in concert with the Historical Commission). 4. Discussion – The Committee was briefed by Staff regarding approximate timelines for two major PROSTAC community engagement projects in 2013 aimed at assessing community needs regarding: a. A possible community/recreation center, with preliminary findings scheduled for presentation to the Town Board this spring. If directed by the Town Board, the next step would be commissioning a formal community survey over the summer,
