Rhynchophorus ferrugineus, a new record of Curculionidae in Zhejiang.

2008
Investigations on dead trees of Phoenix canariensis in Lishui,Zhejiang province revealed that the death was caused by the damage of Rhynchophorus ferrugineus,a new record of Curculionidae in Zhejiang.Descriptions were made on distribution, biological characteristics, hosts and control methods of the pest.Based on the characteristics of occurrence and damage of R.ferrugineus,95% and above controlling effects could be obtained through soil poisoning, planting showering and trunk hole-drilling clysis using highly effective and environmentally safe chemical solutions. It was also urged in this paper that seedling quarantine should be strictly reinforced to prevent further introduction of the pest from infected areas.
