Plurilingual Teachers and Language Usage in Japanese TESOL Classrooms
2021
This paper investigates teacher and student perceptions of the value of maintaining a target-language only approach in English education. Through interviews and surveys conducted with TESOL professionals and students at two Japanese tertiary institutions, it is found that there is a strong expectation from educators and students that languages other than English should not have an active role in classes.
