ANALYSIS ON CAUSES AND COUNTERMEASURES OF DELAY DIAGNOSIS OF PULMONARY TUBERCULOSIS PATIENTS IN NORTH GUIZHOU

[Objective]To find out the reasons of delay diagnosis of TB and upgrade the current preventive measures. [Methods] Both quantitative and qualitative surveys were employed. [Results] Rural Township Hospital and Community Health Service Centre were the first options for 78.5% of suburban patients and 51.5% of suburban patients, respectively. The rates of delay diagnosis were 64.9% and 40.7% for suburban patients and urban patients, respectively. Distance from the hospital was the most important factor which prevented them from seeking treatment for 53.1% of suburban patients, and 63.6% of urban patients mostly concerned the quality of medical treatment. [Conclusion] High rate of delay diagnosis of pulmonary tuberculosis patients in North Guizhou needs urgent actions to upgrade the current prevention, diagnosis, and treatment.
