Effect of the Stabilizer Based on Calcium/Zinc on the α-Relaxation of Poly(vinyl chloride) by the Method of Thermostimulated Depolarization Currents

2006
ABSTRACT The thermostimulated depolarization currents (TSDC) technique was used to investigate relaxation in stabilized poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC) over a temperature range that covers the α-relaxation. Analysis of TSDC behavior revealed that these samples are characterized with broad peaks located at the temperature maximum TM = 363 K in the vicinity of glass transition. The maximum intensity of the obtained peaks presents a net dependence with regard to the stabilizer contents. The temperature maxima remain unchanged. The parameters characterizing each elementary peak, obtained by the cleaning method and characterized by a single relaxation time, were determined.
