The demand for the practice of the different physical activities has increased over the years, both for its aesthetic benefits, as those related to health or performance. Although historically the male presence has been hegemonic in fights, different studies have investigated the factors related to women’s adherence to practice in different modalities. The aim of this study was analyze factors related to the adherence and permanence of women in fights/martial arts in the city of Chapeco, Santa Catarina. Twenty women (±24.26 years old) practicing fighters (Taekowndo, Muay Tai, Capoeira, Boxing, Kung Fu, Jiu Jitsu and Karate) participated in this quantitative cross-sectional study. The instrument used was a questionnaire that aimed to investigate the motivation, modality practiced, total time and weekly frequency of practice. Descriptive statistics (frequency and percentage analysis) were used for data analysis. Improvements in physical performance and aesthetic question were the most mentioned reasons for adherence to modalities. Among the interviewees, 90% say that technical performance improvement is the main reason that leads them to remain in the modality. Boxing was the most practiced (35%), and 70% of the women surveyed practiced the modality two to three times a week. Physical performance and aesthetic improvements are among the main reasons that lead women to practice fights and the most practiced modality is boxing. Improving technical performance is the main reason for women to adhere to training. portuguesA busca pela pratica das mais diferentes atividades fisicas vem aumentando com o passar dos anos, quer seja devido seus beneficios esteticos, relacionado a saude ou a performance. Embora historicamente a presenca masculina tenha representado uma hegemonia nas lutas, diferentes estudos tem investigado a relacao entre as mulheres e a pratica em diferentes modalidades. O objetivo do estudo foi investigar os fatores de aderencia e permanencia das mulheres praticantes de lutas em academias da cidade de Chapeco, Santa Catarina. Participaram da pesquisa 20 mulheres (±24,26 anos), praticantes das lutas (Taekowndo, Muay-Tai, Capoeira, Boxe, Kung-Fu, Jiu-Jitsu e Carate). O instrumento utilizado foi um questionario com perguntas abertas e fechadas, que buscavam investigar: motivacao, modalidade praticada, tempo total e frequencia semanal de pratica. Para analise de dados utilizou-se estatistica descritiva (analise de frequencia e percentual). Como resultados, a busca por melhoria no condicionamento fisico e estetica sao os motivos mais referidos para aderencia as modalidades, enquanto 90% das mulheres investigadas referem que o aprimoramento tecnico e o motivo que as leva permanecer na modalidade. Dentre as sete modalidades, o boxe e a modalidade mais praticada pelas mulheres, representando 35% da populacao total investigada, 70% delas praticam a modalidade de duas a tres vezes por semana. Os principais motivos que levam as mulheres a praticarem lutas foi a busca por condicionamento fisico e melhorias esteticas, sendo o boxe a modalidade mais praticada.
