Experiments on resonantly photo-pumped x-ray lasers

We describe our recent effort to identify and study a promising resonantly photopumped x-ray laser scheme. In particular we will describe a scheme which uses the strong emission lines of a nickel-like ion to resonantly photo-pump a neon-like ion and enhance the lasing of the neon-like 3p {yields} 3s transitions.
