Banded structures in the connective tissue of lymphomas, lymphadenitis, and thymomas

1971
The fine structure of the connective tissue in forty-six pathological lymph nodes and in two granulomatous thymomas from human surgical material has been studied. Peculiar banded structures were extensively present in 20 cases of Hodgkin’s disease (out of 24 cases) and in the 2 granulomatous thymomas, while they have occasionally been observed in 2 reticulum cell sarcomas (out of 6 cases), in 4 lymphosarcomas (out of 7 cases), and in 1 lymphadenitis (out of 5 cases); they have not been recorded in chronic lymphoid (3 cases) or acute (1 case) leukaemias.
