Determination of Oleanolic Acid in Panax japonicus by RP-HPLC

OBJECTIVE:To establish a RP-HPLC method for the determination of oleanolic acid(OA)in Panax japon-icus.METHODS:The chromatographic separation was performed on YMC-pack ODS-AQ(250 mm×4.6 mm,5 μm).The mobile phase was a mixture of methanol-water-glacial acetic acid-triethylamine(90∶10∶ 0.04∶0.02)with detection wavelength set at 210 nm.RESULTS:The linear range of OA was 4.72~23.60 μg(r=0.999 9)with its average recovery at 99.87%(RSD=1.84%,n=6).CONCLUSION:The established method was proved to be rapid,accurate,sensitive,reproducible and applicable for the quality control of Panax japonicus.
