Laboratory Testing of Alcohol Safety Interlock Systems Employing Divided Attention Tests

1975
Prototype Alcohol Safety Interlock Systems employing measurements of tracking ability, reaction time, and response accuracy to discern alcohol impairment were submitted to laboratory testing. These systems were modified versions of a device tested previously in this laboratory. The purpose of the experiment was to determine the intoxication detection rates possible with these modified systems. Fourteen male Subjects participated in the experiment. The report describes the devices tested and the experimental procedures employed, and documents the results of analyses of device performance.
