Process Parameters Optimization Of Tungsten Inert Gas Welding by Taguchi Method

2019
In this investigation we took two dissimilar materials that is mild steel and stainless steel (AISI 1040 and AISI 304) were joined by tungsten inert gas welding by taking different process parameters that is flow rate of gas, welding current and travel speed of the welding. In this experiment we used Taguchi’s robust design. The experiment were performed using three process parameters each varied at three different levels which in view of taguchi symmetrical exhibit that is L18 orthogonal array. The nature of weld was evaluated by dot geometry reaction parameters and mutilation and the outcomes are upgraded by Multi Objective Optimization by Ratio Analysis method. The geometry of bead was analyzed in terms of weld bead reinforcement region, nugget region, heat influenced zones of stainless steel and mild steel and finally with the help of MOORA method revealed the optimum value of multi response characteristics.
