Relationship between polymorphism of insulin receptor gene exon 17,endothelial nitric oxide synthase gene G894T and Alzheimer′s disease

2012
Objective To study the relationship between polymorphism of insulin receptor gene exon 17,endothelial nitric oxide synthase gene G894T and Alzheimer's disease. Methods A total of 100 patients with Alzheimer's disease(AD) and vascular dementia(VaD) in our hospital were selected and divided into AD group(n=50) and VaD group(n=50).Another 50 healthy subjects were selected as control group. They were subjected to drawing blood of 5 mL with an empty stomach in the morning, and the DNA was extracted from blood cells. The polymorphism of insulin receptor gene exon 17 and endothelial nitric oxide synthase gene G894T were analyzed. Results There were statistically significant differences in the GG,GT and TT genotype distribution frequency between the AD group, the VaD group and the control group. The INSR T-allele frequency in the AD group was higher than that in the control group, but the difference was not significant(P0.05).The INSR T-allele frequency in the VAD group was significantly higher than that in the control group. Conclusion The polymorphism of insulin receptor gene exon 17 and endothelial nitric oxide synthase gene G894T are correlated with Alzheimer′s disease and vascular dementia.AD and VaD have the same genetic risk factors.
