Apparatus and method for audio output in portable terminal

An audio output device of a portable terminal and a method thereof are provided to output a voice signal for a call service through another audio output device instead of an ongoing audio device if a call connection request is transmitted/received during audio output, thereby simultaneously providing an application service and the call service. A call connection event is sensed while audio data generated by provision of an application service is outputted to a connected audio device(200). If so, another audio device for outputting a voice signal received in case of a call service is searched(202,204). If another audio device exists, the voice signal received when the call service is provided is outputted to another audio device(210). If another audio device does not exist, a guide message which demands connection of another audio device is outputted(206,208,212).
